(Not Ubuntu). Prior to using Fedora I had Ubuntu. Kubuntu is pretty much Ubuntu but a whole lot improved. I like it
My Kubuntu Desktop:
It’s pretty much a good to go package (Kubuntu 7.10 that is). Very userfriendly. A fresh installation includes Amarok and simple MP3 support with a pop up offering to install it (when attempting to play an MP3 file). If you know Ubuntu maybe you know it isn’t quite that simple. The fresh installation does not include much besides the “essential” (I like that cause I get to pick myself). The Add/Remove Programs program (heh) takes care of basically all my needs (woot), it’s much feature rich.

As a fellow Kubuntu user I’m glad to read how much you like it. I’m a little surprised to read that you find Kubuntu improved over Ubuntu, since most of us consider it the red-headed stepchild of the Ubuntu project.
It’s all worth it for Amarok though, isn’t it?

Hi Scott.
Yeah, there are a few versions sorta oriented from Ubuntu, aren’t there. How come you have picked Kubuntu? Would be interesting to hear.
Well.. the easiest MP3 support for Amarok may be nice and save some time but it isn’t impossible to enable it on Ubuntu and I like more that I don’t need to install the KDE desktop as in Ubuntu since I prefer that one and there are more features that make me like Kubuntu more than it’s parent.

Kubuntu is great.
Unfortunately they won’t support KDE 4.X with their Hardy Heron 8.04 release out of the box. that saddens me.
Go see if you can blog about it and create some pressure with the Kubuntu folks to include KDE 4.X with their next release in 2 months.
